I loved listening today to a talk about the relatedness of art and conservation between two young people who shared a deep love for animals with which I identified wholeheartedly.
While both indicated they’d felt somewhat alone in this love, it was beautiful to see them connect on its basis, particularly for the way I knew I and others were simultaneously joining with them in the sentiment.
It is so interesting, observing, or even experiencing, what it is like to go out on a limb in trying to follow one’s own heart, so daunting can the decision appear. Life is, by far, most worth living out on that limb, after all. (Not just any limb, mind you; but that one.)
I am grateful to be beginning to learn it is true that the only place where confidence and even real solidarity is to be found is in expressing fidelity to such guidance; and I love pondering that, in so doing, we are much less a minority – than a majority – of one.
